Gettin' a Little Country in Poway

Get ready for the week-long end-of-summer event, Poway Days 2011, where friends and families come together to celebrate Poway’s old western heritage while enjoying live music, food and quality time.

The event kicks off at 9 a.m. on Saturday, Sept. 10 as the 47th Annual Poway Days Heritage Parade makes its way down Poway Road. The parade takes place exactly one day before the 10th anniversary of 9/11.

Following the parade is an enormous traditional picnic in the Poway Community Park. You can find a petting zoo, pony rides, crafts, games and food at this fun picnic. All proceeds will be donated to non-profit organizations.

The activities do not end there. The Old Poway Park will hold an event where families and friends can join in on a good ol' campfire sing-along. The Battle of the Bands and Rodeo Music Jam and Dance will both be fun to attend as well.

More campfire songs and black smiths will be attending the Rendezvous in Poway event at the Old Poway Park later in the week. The Rendezvous in Poway is a historical event that captures the essence of the 1820s-1890s, with mountain men, cowboys, gun fighting reenactments, mock train robberies and blacksmithing demonstrations. You can even pan for gold!

The main event, the Poway Days Festival, will bring the week's festivities to a closing. Shopping, food, entertainment and the entire community make this street fair extraordinary.

This event attracts more than 15,000 attendees and around 200 vendors every year so do not miss it! Poway Days was made for families and friends to get together and have fun. To get a full list of events and times, please check out the Poway events calendar right here.
