A deep, moist trough of low pressure is moving south, offshore and should start to move over Baja Monday. This will keep the onshore flow going the next couple of days making for extensive cloud cover, mild temperatures, fog and drizzle and possibly occasional showers. Maybe even an isolated thunderstorm.
"It's going to keep us under this very wet pattern," said NBCSanDiego forecaster Whitney Southwick.
As the center of this system moves west to east over Baja, it will continue to keep cloudy, moist air over San Diego and by Monday afternoon, it will enhance the chance of rain for much of the rest of the week.
There is a 70 percent chance of shower activity Monday and on Tuesday comes with an increased possibility of scattered thunderstorms.
The rain should taper off and become only scattered on Thursday with a slight chance of an isolated shower sticking around into Friday.
Right now, next weekend looks a little warmer and dry with maybe only partly cloudy skies.
The thermometer remains short all week with overnight lows mostly in the 60s and highs topping out in the 60s as well.
So far, no estimates on the amount of rain we could receive over the next few days, it all depends on how far south the center of the storm moves before it heads east over Baja.
