Film Fest Features Celebs, Parties

Events held in La Jolla and downtown San Diego Sept. 26-30

One of the biggest festivals in San Diego is gearing up for one of the most star-studded events of the year.

From Sept. 26-30, the San Diego Film Festival will transform the Gaslamp into a cinematic paradise with dozens of screenings and parties. The event is welcoming more than 150 filmmakers to the event to showcase their work, and more than 100 films will be shown throughout the festival.

Not only will the event feature some of the best local films, but it will also have numerous parties with dozens of Hollywood’s shining stars.

One of the leader men at the event is special guest Gus Van Sant. The director of “Good Will Hunting” fame will be honored at La Jolla Museum of Contemporary Art on Sept. 27.

And a festival just isn’t complete without an epic party or two. Opening night will kick off the event with a premiere at FLUXX Nightclub. Plus the downtown will turn into a hotbed of activity on the night of the “Almost Famous” Block Party outside the Gaslamp Reading Theater on Friday, Sept. 28.

With so many events throughout the festival it might be hard to pick just one -- here's our roundup of what not to miss.

More than 15,000 people are expected to attend the 5-day festival, so get your tickets early. Check out the SD Film Fest website for more information.
