Sounds Like San Diego: May 30

FIDLAR, Sego, the Specials, and Helms Alee headline Thursday's amazing concert options

I have to admire FIDLAR. People in the media get directives from publicists all the time about stylized spellings or specific ways a band should be written, but the first time I was working with FIDLAR and was explained why the name was an acronym, I assure you, I never wrote FIDLAR in lowercase again. (If you're not in the know, you'll have to look it up yourself.) I went to my first FIDLAR show on that same tour, and I recall looking around and thinking, "I like it. I get it. But I'm too old for it," and proceeded to move to the back of the room while I watched the entire room break into one gigantic circle pit, as young teen bodies surfed above the crowd. They're back at the Observatory North Park tonight, and you can expect that nothing's changed, it will be slight insanity, and you'll totally love it (read the SoundDiego inteview with band frontman Zac Carper here). Meanwhile, Sego is an LA band who have been paying their dues with frequent opening slots and tonight they headline Soda Bar, the Specials play the first of two nights at House of Blues, and Helms Alee melt faces at the Casbah.
