WHILE AUTUMN WILL HUM ON... for a few weeks following Halloween, traditional fall festivals will begin to make their final bow in most places right around the close of October. The weather starts to grow cooler in November, and Thanksgiving and end-of-the-year celebrations begin to flower like so much ivy and holly. If you're a fan of a traditional fall fest, then you know that the final weekend of October is prime time for locating your pumpkin-based revelry, revelry that will be, fingers crossed, outdoors in a lovely, in-the-sunshine setting. FAMILY FALL FESTIVAL... will take place on Saturday, Oct. 28. The San Diego Botanic Garden is the seasonally sweet spot, and while your admission gets you into the festival (a separate entrance ticket is not required), do note that a few crafts and activities may come with small fee. Another good thing to keep in mind? If you're a grown-up, you should forgo the costume, but the tots are invited to dress up as their favorite bug or superhero or monster. Pumpkin painting is one happening during the day — go silly or go scary, is always the question — and a petting zoo will bring the awwws.
