Everclear to Headline San Diego Margarita Fest

Waterfront Park hosts San Diego Margarita Fest from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. on Saturday, Aug. 17

There's nothing better than sipping a crisp margarita on a warm summer day -- especially if there's live music involved.

Luckily, from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. on Saturday, Aug. 17, the Waterfront Park hosts San Diego Margarita Fest, and Everclear are slated to headline it. To top it all off, there's going to be a cornhole tournament -- sorry kiddos, this party's just for adults 21 and up.

“We created San Diego Taco Fest four years ago for San Diegans and can’t wait to bring Marg Fest to San Diego,” event organizer Tim Young said in a press release.

“What’s better to have [sic] multiple choices of the best Margaritas while hanging next to San Diego Harbor on a perfect summer day,” Young added.

But let's talk about '90s greats Everclear, who were all over San Diego radio well into the '00s, headlining this thing. Art Alexakis and company did play Kaaboo last year, but they're already bringing that nostalgia back to town, and that's sure to draw throngs. They'll be joined by Jimmy Buffet tribute band Garratt Wilkin & the Parrotheads, Bob Marley tribute band One Drop Redemption, alt-rockers Alinea, Spazmatics and Pan Paradise Steel Drum Band.

General admission tickets, not including food and drink, cost $30 in advance through July 5, $35 from July 6 to Aug. 16 and $40 at the door. VIP tickets, which cost $150, include four adult drinks, unlimited water and soft drinks, craft food from noon to 2 p.m. and 5 p.m. to 7 p.m., desserts from 7:15 p.m. to 9 p.m., private restrooms and front row access to the concerts. They're available here.

If you want to get all cornholio, you can register one team (two players) for $120 here. That includes general admission entry to the event, by the way, so don't go buying general admission tickets and then registering for the cornhole tournament. For cornhole entry and VIP access, it comes out to $360 for two players.
