Del Mar Concerts Back on Track With Slightly Stoopid

The Del Mar Racetrack hits the ground running this year with hometown reggae rockers Slightly Stoopid

Listen up, Stoopid-heads: Your favorite reggae/funk/rock band is hittin’ the track this summer!

The OB band, which has become quite the worldwide sensation, is scheduled to play the Del Mar Racetrack on Saturday, Aug. 26. as part of the 2017 summer concert series. Stoopid got their start in the mid-’90s and are now basically a San Diego institution -- the eight-piece group routinely packs the biggest venues in town (and elsewhere) and has been a non-stop touring machine for years.

Slightly Stoopid infamously signed to Skunk Records (when the guys were still in high school) by label founder and Sublime frontman Bradley Nowell (who also appeared on their debut album). Since then, it’s been a meteoric rise -- 2015 saw the release of their eighth studio album, “Meanwhile … Back at the Lab,” which peaked at No. 3 on the Billboard Independent Albums chart. To see them perform at the racetrack for all their hometown fans is just too good to pass up, so head to DMTC.com for info and tickets.

More good news: an announcement of the Del Mar Racetrack’s full season is coming Tuesday, we're told. Last year, of course, the track featured everyone from the Cold War Kids to Chromeo and 311.

Admission to all shows at the track is free with a ticket to the races. Otherwise, concert entry is $20 if you arrive after the last race. We recommend saving some energy for Aug. 26 -- there ain’t nothin’ quite like a Slightly Stoopid party.
