Celebrate Earth Day

EarthFair 2012 and the Garden Festival & Tour bring out the green for Earth Day

Get ready to celebrate Earth Day, because the world’s largest environmental fair will take place in San Diego on April 22.

Balboa Park, one of the lushest areas in San Diego, will host EarthFair 2012. The event will have roughly 200 exhibitors, entertainment and a food pavilion.

Parents looking for ways to educate their kids about the environment can take them to the Children’s Activity Area. Kids can learn how to make their own paper, find out more about recycling and learn how to visit wild areas without disturbing the environment.

Looking for ways to make your living quarters more energy efficient? Look no further than the eHome exhibit area at EarthFair 2012, where you can peruse garden-friendly products for the household.

If you can’t make it to the event on Sunday, Encinitas is hosting an equally-green event on Saturday at the Garden Festival & Tour.

Trek on up to the coastal community to experience plant life at its finest by taking the self-guided stroll through Encinitas flourishing gardens. There’s even a Gardener’s Marketplace if you end up feeling inspired to start an oasis of your own.

Encinitas Garden Festival and Tour will be from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturday, April 21. Tickets start at $7.

EarthFair 2012 will begin at 10 a.m. at Balboa Park on Sunday, April 22. Admission is free.
