Don't Miss the Carlsbad Music Festival

Get ready for the 12th annual music festival on Saturday, June 20

San Diego's creative music fans should be preparing for the northbound interstate on Saturday, June 20, to take in the Carlsbad Music Festival Village Walk, which features 60 performances by 30 acts on 16 different stages over the course of six hours.

This is the 12th season for the eclectic music festival, and the third season of the Village Walk. "We are projecting 4,000 attendees," said Kate Oberjat, managing director of the festival.

"This event takes place in 16 venues throughout the Village," Oberjat continued, "with multiple sets taking place at any given time, allowing folks to choose their own musical experience. It kicks off in Magee Park, but venues include Giacoletti Music Center, Cafe Panini, Humble Olive Oils, St. Michael's by the Sea Church, and the State & Grand parking lot."

Some of the highlight performances this year will include sets by the New Orleans-inspired Euphoria Brass Band, contemporary classical cellist Jennifer Bewerse, live scores to silent films by Scott Paulson & the Teeny-Tiny Pit Orchestra, Persian Classical music by the Kourish Taghavi Trio, folk-pop duo the Lovebirds, solo violin by fest founder Matt McBane, and several sets by creative percussion master Nathan Hubbard.

"The Carlsbad Fest is great," says Hubbard. "One of the very few that features local artists and embraces wide-ranging views on music-making."

The festival begins at 4 p.m. on Saturday, June 20, and carries on until 10 p.m. Click here to see the detailed schedule of performers, times, and venues.
