People are passionate about their orange juice packaging. That’s a lesson Tropicana has learned.

Bowing to public demand, the PepsiCo Americas Beverages Division of PepsiCo is scrapping the new design of Tropicana Pure Premium Orange Juice and will be returning to the good 'ole orange with the straw.

Tropicana received angry e-mails, letters and calls criticizing the new design that pictures a glass of OJ with a straw.

"We underestimated the deep emotional bond," customers had with the original packaging, the company said in a release. "Those consumers are very important to us, so we responded."

There is no comment on how much the scrapping of the new design will cost. What is certain is that consumers won this round.
