Del Mar Concert Series Wises Up With Slightly Stoopid

On Sept. 1, Slightly Stoopid will be hitting the Del Mar Thoroughbred Club

Ocean Beach-based reggae fusion rockers Slightly Stoopid may be coming off of a bro'd out Waterfront Park performance at 91x's BeerX festival this weekend, but that ain't stopping them from keeping the good times rolling: On Sept. 1, the band will be hitting the Del Mar Thoroughbred Club for the Del Mar Concert Series.

The series at the fair -- a SoundDiego sponsor -- will kick off on Friday, July 20, with the Psychedelic Furs and will continue to pop off every subsequent Friday (and select Saturdays). Other performers include Iration, Matisyahu, Ziggy Marley, Steel Pulse and Tribal Seeds.

Notice a theme there? Yep, San Diego loves its reggae. But not to fret if that's not your jam. The concert series will also offer up the hip-hop and R&B stylings of Ice Cube and Aloe Blacc, respectively, the Latin rock of Cafe Tacvba and the folky blues-rock of Nathaniel Rateliff & the Night Sweats.

That's 11 huge concerts (including Slightly Stoopid), and each one is free with admission to the races -- as long as you get there before the last race. After that, it's $30.

So, if you're looking to bet on a good time for cheap, wise up and hit the track this summer.

Slightly Stoopid headline the Seaside Stage at the Del Mar Thoroughbred Club for the Del Mar Concert Series on Sept. 1. See the full lineup and admission details here.
