Chipotle opens its doors in downtown San Diego on Dec. 14.
The prime location on Broadway and 1st Avenue is surrounded by dozens of office buildings, full of hungry people who will likely line up for an afternoon burrito.
This is the first downtown location for Chipotle – the closest one used to be nearly three miles away in Hillcrest.
A spokesperson for Chipotle told NBC San Diego that the company plans to add up to eight new locations in San Diego during 2012.
On Tuesday afternoon the restaurant offered free burritos to employees in nearby office buildings, and will host a dinner for military families in the evening.
