Busalacchi’s on Fifth says it’s time for a makeover.

The 24-year-old Italian restaurant and landmark announced that it will move from its original location to reopen with a new concept later this summer.

The details remain a secret, but owners Joe and Lisa Busalacchi do say that the new restaurant will be located in the same neighborhood, will seat 120 guests in indoor and outdoor accommodations, and will feature classical Italian dishes made with fresh ingredients.
Joe Busalacchi, owner and president of Busalacchi Family Restaurants, describes the new experience the eatery hopes to demonstrate.
“The concept will be fresh and clean. We’re going to serve the sweetest tomatoes, hand-shaved parmesan cheese, herbs we’ll grow in our own garden and simple, delicious recipes that Italians have enjoyed for generations,” he said.
To celebrate the past 24 years of excellence and the upcoming transformation, Busalacchi’s on Fifth is bringing back its original menu (and prices too!) for an evening in April. It will include an evening with former Major League baseball pitcher and manager Tommy Lasorda, a contest to determine which delicious recipes should be carried over to the new restaurant, and a chance to win a free meal for four on closing night.
Lisa Busalacchi is very excited about the upcoming changes, and hopes that guests will be just as thrilled.
“We can’t wait to give San Diegans one more reason to come together over a good meal,” she said.
