Botanic Garden's Show of a Hundred Thousand Lights

Santa, snow and roasted marshmallows transform the Garden of all gardens

Wait till the sun goes down and you'll experience a magical winter wonderland at the San Diego Botanic Gardens. A hundred thousand lights twinkle throughout.

Experience snow, carriage rides,  visit Santa, roast marshmallows and live music for a memorable holiday time. Socialite, journalist, and columnist for the San Diego Reader, Barbarella took her sister and two young nieces for an adventure worth repeating.  "Neither of them (nieces) had ever seen snow, so this was a biggie. As for me there was the 'mulled wine.' I'd never tasted it before but it was spicy and delicious. But most of all it was the lights I loved--who doesn't like sparkly things."

For something else to do  there's gingerbread season at theNatural History Museum where the kids can decorate their very own gingerbread-man cookie.

For grown-ups there's The Eight: Reindeer Monologues at the Compass Theatre. But Barbarella warns you this "dark, dark, Christmas comedy," might be best appreciated by adults.
