Time is running out if you want to sign up for, what is arguably, the funnest bike ride in San Diego County.
It's the 3rd Annual "Bike the Bay" which includes the rare opportunity to bicycle across the 2.1 mile bridge, over to Coronado, down the strand, into Imperial Beach then up the east side of the bay through Chula Vista, National City and back to the starting point behind the Convention Center.
The non-competitive 25-mile ride is open to anyone 12 years or older. It starts at 7 a.m., Sunday, August 29, at Embarcadero Marina Park East.
Post ride festivities include food, prizes and the Karl Strauss beer garden. Proceeds go to the San Diego County Bicycle Coalition, a non-profit organization that is dedicated to making biking better for everyone.
You'll want to get pre-registered; the ride is limited to the first 2500 who sign up and it came only 100 short of a sell-out last year and registration is already running ahead of the 2009 event.
