Aztec senior forward Kyle Spain had quite a week. He averaged 18 points a game, earning the Most Outstanding Player award at the Great Alaska Shootout (which San Diego State won). That performance was good enough to get the Mountain West Conference to give him its Player of the Week award.
Spain has had a rocky career on the Mesa. He was suspended for the second half of his junior season for violating team rules. He was also suspended for a portion of his sophomore year. It seems he's learned from his off-court mistakes, and the Aztecs are a dangerous team with him back.
