Are You Ready for Some Music?

There's plenty to see around town during Super Bowl weekend besides the big game

Friday night, the Rocket From the Crypt show with the Styletones and the Downs Family at the Casbah sold out in two minutes. Other options include MXPX at the Irenic, Parkway Drive at House of Blues, Frankie Rose, Dream Boys, Soft Lions and DJ Mario Orduno at Soda Bar, The Heavy Guilt at Gallagher’s, the Amandas at the Whistle Stop, and Josh Damigo, Tolan Shaw and Brenda Xu at Lestats. Expect dance floor shenanigans as DJ Z-Trip headlines at the Belly Up, and Bang Bang features Mossberg Pump and Rifat Ziadeh. At Spin Nightclub, Wobble Events and Opulent Temple present Stanton Warriors (UK) for their 3rd Anniversary, with Bassmechanic, Dulce Vita, Omega Squad, Divinity, Derick Atkins, Austin Speed and Brutus.

Saturday night, join me at the Kava Lounge for Club Ascension. DJs Severin, Chad O and yours truly will be spinning the best in dark underground dance music. Plus, you have a chance to win tickets for two upcoming Belly Up shows - VNV Nation and Gary Numan. Grab more details via this link. Elsewhere, Ash headlines at the Casbah, Cate Le Bon, Kevin Morby, Octagrape and Flower Animals are at Soda Bar, Futurebirds, Chess Wars and Ed Ghost Tucker play at the Griffin, and Boys & Girls features DJs Adam Salter, Kanye Asada and Contemporary Menswear at El Dorado.

On Sunday, Yuck, GRMLN and Tropical Popsicle hit the Casbah, and Japanther headlines at Soda Bar.
