Tickets on Sale: Temecula Valley Crush

The mid-September wine soiree alights at Callaway Vineyard & Winery.

Temecula Valley Winegrowers

GOLDEN VINES: Whoever designed September as California Wine Month really knew their stuff. Because while wine is a beverage enjoyed year-round in many a home and restaurant, there's only one month of the twelve that owns the bustle, the hustle, and the quintessential sights of the season for making wine. September, you win, and the people making all of that delicious wine know it. Which is why...

THE BEST... wine events tend to show up right before fall officially kicks off. This always fills us with a bit of awe, because late August and September could be the part of the year where all of the wineries say "nope, we're too busy, we're closing up shop to the public, no one is invited over." And yet they don't. That's when some of the hottest happenings on the wine calendar occur, like the Temecula Valley Crush.

35 WINERIES: Nearly three dozen members of the Temecula Valley Winegrowers Association'll make for Callaway Vineyard & Winery on Saturday, Sept. 14 to sip, dine, sip some more, and raise a glass to harvest. Winemakers and winery owners will be in the house talking about what they do, their process, and all things vino. (We'd arrive with some interesting questions to pepper them with, such as their favorite wine outside of their own label.) A general ticket is $75, but if you buy it before mid-August you can shave a cool ten bucks off. A tenner is enough for a really good budget wine -- we're sure you know that -- so this savings is nothing to sniff at. Save your (wine-)sniffing for Sept. 14 and the grand Crush party.
