Summ, summ, summertime, is it hot enough for you? I'll tell you what's hot in this list below, take a gander. Aug. 3: Lucinda Williams, Steve Earle, Dwight Yoakam and King Leg at Cal Coast Credit Union Open Air Theatre. It's the "LSD Tour." An amazing triple bill and a good kind of country music.
Aug. 4: SUMM Music Fest at Queen Bee's with Private Lives, Aviator Stash, Fashion Jackson, Bossfight, Former, Bad Kids, Lost Dakota, Stray Monroe, Tape Heads, Corporate Citizen, Infinite Signal, Ghost City and Punk Yacht Club. This is part of the Loudspeaker 30 celebrations and benefits Feeding San Diego. Lots of bang for your buck!
Aug. 5: Hop Along and Thin Lips at the Irenic. Fun bill of touring bands and remember they don't serve beer, wine or alcohol at the Irenic, so don't say I didn't warn you.
Aug. 6: The Havnauts, Nathan Raney and Chloe Lu & the Liddells at Casbah. Support local shows that I booked, come on now sunshine.
Aug. 7: Toto at Humphreys Concerts by the Bay. They just returned the favor and covered "Hash Pipe" by Weezer, who recently covered "Africa" by Toto.
Aug. 8: Shooter Jennings at the Belly Up. Son of the outlaw country music legend.

Aug. 9: Matthew Logan Vasquez at Soda Bar. He's also the frontman for Delta Spirit.
Aug. 10: Allison Krause and Willie Nelson at Humphreys Concerts by the Bay. A match made in heaven, don't miss it!
Aug. 11: Pixies and Weezer at Mattress Firm Amphitheater. Amazing double alt-rock bill!
Aug. 12: The Redwoods Review at Loew's Coronado Resort with Rebecca Jade & the Cold Fact, Dani Bell & the Tarantist, and Cardinal Moon; free with RSVP. That means free and easy for you to support local music.
Aug. 13: Sundrop Electric, Hail Hail and Runs Deep at Casbah. A night of local shoegaze bands; support local music.
Aug. 14: Buddy Guy and Jonny Lang at Humphreys Concerts by the Bay. Old and new blues legends.
Aug. 15: Roger Daltrey at Embarcadero Marina Park. Frontman from the Who -- "who are you?"
Aug. 16: Rodrigo y Gabriela at the Belly Up. A guitar duo that specializes in classical, Latin, world music and Heavy Metal. If you miss this show, they play again at the Belly Up on the 28th and 29th.
Aug. 17: Deafheaven, Uniform and Drab Majesty at Brick By Brick. Deafheaven is equal parts black metal and shoegaze.
Aug. 18: Rooney, Sights and Sages, and Mating Ritual at the Casbah. Rooney is back! This is for fans of Weezer and the frontman is a Coppola. If you have to ask, don't...
Aug. 19: Timbre Timbre at Casbah. Dark, mysterious, folk and blues.
Aug. 20: AJJ, Kimya Dawson and Shellshag at the Observatory North Park. Three extremely DIY bands on the same bill. Do you remember the Moldy Peaches? Kimya was in that band.
Aug. 21: Jack White at Viejas Arena. Leave your cellphone in the car or at home -- no cellphones allowed.
Aug. 22: Erasure at Copley Symphony Hall. Vince Clark used to be in Depeche Mode and Yaz, then he started this band.
Aug. 23: The Alarm and Manual Scan at the Belly Up. You know all the songs, so come to the show and sing along. You might even see me onstage with Manual Scan for a song.
Aug. 24: The Frights at the Observatory North Park. Local heroes headlining a big show!
Aug. 25: Rolling Blackouts Coastal Fever at Soda Bar. I can't wait to see this band from Australia on Sub Pop -- described as soft punk, hard pop.
Aug. 26: Rod Stewart and Cyndi Lauper at Mattress Firm Amphitheater. I wonder if they'll do a duet of "Girl's Just Wanna Have Fun"?
Aug. 27: Napalm Death at Brick by Brick. Epic metal band from the U.K., one of the first metal bands in the early 80s, following the punk influx.
Aug. 28: Color Coated, Turtle Click and Hug at the Merrow. These are usually all local bills, but not always, so come discover a new band with me at the Merrow every Tuesday, take a chance.
Aug. 29: The Exploited, D.I., Total Chaos and US Bombs at the Observatory North Park. A night of classic, old-school punk rock.
Aug. 30: Inspector at the Observatory North Park. Ska from Monterrey, Mexico -- pick it up!
Aug. 31: Koffin Kats at Soda Bar. A combination of the Reverend Horton Heat, Misfits and the Stray Cats, it's punkabilly!
