The group – which was here in September for shows at the Kaaboo festival and the Observatory North Park -- was in Solana Beach to play at a private party for the William Morris Endeavor Entertainment company, on a bill shared with '80s hit monster Billy Idol.

Local music fans may remember that the talent agency threw a bash last year with the Foo Fighters, Lady Gaga and Tony Bennett, and Aloe Blacc. No love for local fans at that one, however.

“We heard the idea -- that came from the band, -- around 4 o’clock,” said the Belly Up’s Beth Bennett. “We put wheels in motion to see if it was possible, and the call to do it was made around 6.”

The Killers tweeted it out around 9, and the Belly Up retweeted it and post it to social, and – because everyone wanted to make sure that there weren’t just 50 people standing around in the rain at midnight – the radio stations 91x and FM 94/9 were both informed and helped to get the word out.

Bennett said the Belly Up was super excited to do this for the fans – and there were plenty of them. She added that the club ended up being packed, with, unfortunately, hundreds left standing outside after it was at capacity.

The band played a set packed with fan favorites, at a show that Bennett said was probably the latest the Belly Up ever hosted.

Killers fan Jackie Feitler-Ferguson was one of the lucky ones who made it to the show.
