A downtown San Diego nightclub is about to do a different kind of “spinning” on its dance floor, this time involving workout bikes.
FLUXX on 4th Avenue in the Gaslamp Quarter will host “FLUXX Spin” on Saturday – an indoor cycling event on the dance floor set to music from a spinning DJ with all the bells and whistles one would expect from a nightclub setting.
From noon to 5 p.m., workout warriors will ditch their high heels and clutch for a gym bag. As the music drives the cycling, flashing lights and LED panels will also add to the atmosphere during the high-intensity workout led by a SparkCycle instructor.
To go with the theme, FLUXX will serve cold-pressed juices and energy drinks instead of its typical full-bar cocktail menu – though there will be a few specialty Belvedere cocktails available, too.
Healthy snacks will be served as well.
Tickets cost $80 per person, with proceeds benefitting the Challenged Athletes Foundation’s Operation Rebound, a sports and fitness program for U.S. military personnel, veterans and first-responders with physical challenges. Spectators can also donate $20 at the door and support their favorite cyclists, plus the charity.
Each ticket includes a 45-minute spin ride, including spin shoes, a drink ticket and Lululemon swag bag filled with goodies including a T-shirt and refreshments.
Spin class times are at 1 p.m. and 1:55 p.m. Participants are encouraged to arrive 15 minutes before the class begins. For more information, click here.
