Craft Beer Events in August

Bottoms up to a month filled with brewery events

August can feel like a month of Sundays – and what better to celebrate the summer’s end than with an ice cold beer?

So say cheers, because San Diego’s got plenty of crafty fun before Labor Day.

Craft Beer and Cocktail Showcase
4-8 p.m. on Aug. 3 at 1030 Broadway
A dozen local breweries and craft cocktail bars join together as El Dorado hosts its annual summer celebration. The cocktail and beer showcase will be accompanied by live music, an art exhibition and a dunk tank. Tickets are $25 in advance and include 10 beer tastings and two cocktails – plus the event benefits On-Life Suicide Prevention Organization.

BrewFest Encinitas
4-7 p.m. on Aug. 3 at 1 Barnard Dr.

Sip on some suds at the San Elijo Campus of MiraCosta College during its third charitable event. The Encinitas Coastal Rotary Club ensures 100 percent of the profits are donated to charity. With 15 breweries to choose from, giving back has never been more fun. Tickets are $25.

Stone Anniversary Celebration

6-9 p.m. on Aug. 16 and 11-6 p.m. on Aug. 17 at 333 South Twin Oaks Valley Rd.

The beer behemoth of San Diego is celebrating 17 years brewing with a huge party. The event is so big, they’re hosting it at Cal State San Marcos to accommodate all the craft beer fans. Tickets start at $40 and a commemorative glass is included.

Hop Fest
1 p.m. on Aug. 31 at Del Mar Fairgrounds

It’s bottoms up for the last weekend at the racetrack. More than 100 different craft beers will be available at this hop-focused beer festival, meaning plenty of IPAs and double IPAs will be poured. Five 7 oz. samples is only $17 – but don’t forget the $6 track admission.
