Petco Park to Close Snow Play Area Friday

The winter snow park inside Petco Park will close Friday due to weather, organizers announced Thursday.

Holiday Wonderland at Petco Park will be open as scheduled for the weekend - Saturday and Sunday, Dec. 13 and 14.

The possibility of rain Dec. 12 due to rain in the forecast may impact the snow levels at the outdoor event. Workers create new snow every day so there should be plenty to play with when the weekend rolls around.

When it opens back up, organizers say the event's layout will be larger to accommodate more people. The park also plans to add several holiday inflatables, photo opportunities with holiday characters and face painters.

Also, to minimize wait times, organizers will allow visitors to sign up for the most popular activities, including photos with Santa and riding the Polar Express train around the bases.

Organizers have also made online ticket sales date specific and the date will be capped once the event's reach capacity. However, guests who have already bought non-date-specific tickets can go any time they want.

Thursday, December 18 has been added to make up for the Friday closure.
