Reggae Rocks Racetrack's 2019 Summer Concerts

The Del Mar Racetrack has announced a reggae-centric 2019 summer concert lineup

We might be in the midst of 'May gray' but summer is definitely heating up: The Del Mar Racetrack has announced (most of) its 2019 Summer Concert Series -- and for San Diego reggae fans in particular, it's sure to inspire more than a few trips to the scenic locale 'where the turf meets the surf.'

The annual concert season kicks off on Friday, July 19, with a still-to-be-announced headliner and is followed the very next night by Reggae Fest with Ziggy Marley. Another TBA headliner is set for July 26, while country music stalwarts Midland set to take the stage on Saturday, July 27.

The racetrack then does a swift 180 with funk/jazz maestros Trombone Shorty & Orleans Avenue on Friday, Aug. 2, before returning to its reggae lean with San Diego favorites Iration the next night.

While we wait with bated breath for the track's Aug. 9 act (currently unannounced), country star Chase Rice headlines on Aug. 16 for a grand ol' time. The month is rounded out in regal reggae fashion with SOJA on Aug. 23, and Steel Pulse on Friday, Aug. 30 (who, with their frequent performances in town, seem to have made San Diego their home away from home).

Last but not least, '80s rock tribute group Wayward Sons hedge their bets on Monday, Sept. 2, for the season's big finale.

All concerts take place after the last races of the day. For tickets and more information, visit https://www.dmtc.com/concerts.
