Visitors to the San Diego Zoo witnessed the birth of the newest addition to the zoo’s giraffe herd Sunday.
The male calf arrived at 11:20 a.m., the fourth baby for 18-year-old Nikki. His father is Silver, according to the San Diego zoo.
Keepers say this calf is a little guy, just 5-foot-3 inches tall. He was measured during his first exam. The health baby boy is sticking close to mom and seems to have a good temperament.
He’ll be on exhibit in the maternity yard for a few days before being introduced to the rest of the herd later this week.
