La Costa Resort Purchased by Omni

The Texas-based hotel company also purchased four other resorts throughout the country

A Carlsbad resort known to host high-profile sporting events has been sold to Omni Hotels, according to the company.

La Costa Resort and Spa in Carlsbad and the Rancho Las Palmas Resort and Spa in Rancho Mirage have been purchased by the Texas-based hotel company, in addition to three other properties. It is uncertain how much Omni paid for the group of five hotels.

The Carlsbad resort, which hosts LPGA Kia Classic, Acura Classic and the Southern California Open, has two golf course and multiple tennis courts. The resort also has more than 600 rooms and 43,000 sq. ft. spa. Omni said La Costa also recently had a $50 million renovation.

The Barton Creek Resort & Spa in Texas, The Grove Park Inn in Asheville, N.C., and The Homestead in Hot Springs, Va. were also purchased by Omni.

The management change will go into effect at the beginning of next month.
