Hozier Announces San Diego Show

Hozier, of "Take Me to Church" fame, has announced a San Diego show this fall

After a couple years out of the spotlight, Hozier is taking us back to church: The soulful indie-rock artist announced a new, 17-city North American tour on Monday morning that includes a stop at the Observatory North Park on Monday, Oct. 15.

Kicking off in Ottawa, Ontario on Sept. 15, the tour makes its way through the country and ends in Vancouver on Oct. 22. According to Hozier, new music -- which has been long-awaited -- is finally on the horizon.

“Very excited to announce the upcoming tour for later in the year, which will coincide with the releasing of new work,” he said in a statement. “The completion of the record is fast approaching and I’m eager to share it with everyone.”

Tickets for the tour (including the all-ages San Diego show) go on sale to the general public on Friday, June 15 at 10 a.m. PST at this link. An official Hozier fanclub pre-sale begins on June 14 at 10 a.m. PST -- head to his website for more information.

Born Andrew Hozier-Byrne, the Irish singer-songwriter rose to international fame in 2013 on the strength of “Take Me to Church,” a single from his debut EP of the same name. The song reached No. 1 on iTunes and was nominated for Song of the Year at the 2015 57th annual Grammy Awards (at which he also performed).

The single was re-released on Hozier’s debut, self-titled, full-length album in 2015 -- which also spawned four more singles including “Work Song,” “From Eden” and “Cherry Wine.” Later that year, he’d win the VH1 Artist of the Year award.

Since then, he’s been relatively quiet. He released the song “Better Love” in 2016 as part of the “Legend of Tarzan” film soundtrack, but touring has been scarce -- the last time he played San Diego was (coincidentally) on Oct. 15, 2015, at SDSU’s Cal Coast Credit Union Open Air Theatre. Needless to say, it’s good to have him back.
