Free or Cheap Admission Available to 6 Local Museums for EBT Card Holders

Six San Diego-area museums are part of a national push to provide free or reduced-price admission to low-income residents.

The program called Museums for All is designed to encourage everyone to build strong museum habits.

Among the list of museums participating are the Museum of Contemporary Art San Diego (Downtown, La Jolla), Museum of Making Music in Carlsbad, The New Children’s Museum, the San Diego Children’s Discovery Museum in Escondido, the San Diego History Center and the San Diego Natural History Museum.

For those who are planning summer trips, check out the list of participating museums here.

There is no cost to enroll in the Museums for All program but not all museums are offering free admission. Some will cost $3 for guests presenting an Electronic Benefits Transfer (EBT) card and a valid form of photo identification. The program covers up to four guests per EBT card.

The program does not cover any additional charges such as movie or special exhibit admissions.
