    Portland favorite, Salt & Straw Ice Cream, will debut its first San Diego location in Little Italy on Dec. 26.

    Inside Little Italy's Handsome New Restaurant and Bar 
    The just-opened Nolita Hall is India Street's newest hangout, with a shuffleboard court, communal tables, and an expansive bar. The stunning spot offers a menu of salads and woodfired pizza as well as 24 beer taps and craft cocktails. 

    Salt & Straw Ice Cream Opening in Carmel Valley
    The Portland-based artisan ice cream company first expanded to San Diego last December, opening a scoop shop in Little Italy. Next year, Salt & Straw will be one of the tenants at One Paseo, a new mixed-use development in Carmel Valley that will also house Shake Shack, Tender Greens, and more high-profile eateries.

    Trust Restaurant Group Launching Mission Hills Project
    North County's breakout hit, known for its wood-fired cuisine and cocktails, will open a second eatery in Carlsbad. Called Jeune et Jolie, the modern French bistro will serve progressive plates inspired by France and other French-influenced cultures as well as drinks based on French spirits.

    It's officially ice cream weather and San Diego is brimming with shops offering cooling treats. Eater's guide to 17 top spots in the local ice cream scene ranges from small-batch handmade gelato to trendy, Asian-inspired frozen desserts. 

    Gourmet Sandwiches Motoring to Mira Mesa Gas Station
    Moto Deli, a gourmet sandwich shop from Encinitas, is expanding to Mira Mesa next month. Its outpost, adjacent to a Shell gas station, will offer breakfast options as well as lunch menu centered around scratch-made sandwiches.
