Comic Con Museum Could be Coming to Balboa Park

The fanfare of Comic Con could soon be commemorated with a museum at Balboa Park.

The San Diego Hall of Champions on Wednesday announced that talks are under way with Comic Con International to allocate space at the Balboa Park museum for San Diego’s iconic popular arts festival.

In a statement from the Hall of Champions, officials said Comic Con has been seeking a way to continue the festival’s legacy and provide a year-round fan experience. The museum space would help fulfill both goals.

“Comic-Con has been working with the Hall Of Champions as part of our continuing exploration of how best to ensure Comic-Con’s legacy,” Comic Con spokesman David Glanzer said in a statement. “At this time we are in talks and while no decision has been made we are thrilled with the direction of those discussions.”

Held in July ever year at the San Diego Convention Center, Comic Con is thought to be one of the largest conventions of its kind in the world. It’s also a boon for San Diego’s tourism every summer.

No specifics on the museum's size or a possible opening were immediately revealed.
