Hunky Hero “Thor” Owns the Streets of San Diego

It's the first sign of Comic-Con returning to San Diego

Life-size banners of the Marvel character can be seen all over downtown San Diego featuring the familiar grayscale cartoon eye. This can only mean one thing—Comic-Con International: San Diego is back for another year.

Special Section: Comic-Con 2013

Last year, we saw Tim Burton’s “Frankenweenie” displayed on the banners. Disney brought “The Art of Frankenweenie Exhibition” to San Diego, which gave Comic-Con fans an opportunity to learn about the stop-motion animation process that was used in the movie.

So, we’ve discovered that these banners are an indicator as to what may come.

Will we see Chris Hemsworth and the cast of Thor on a panel at this year’s Comic Con? Their convention PR reps aren’t saying anything.

Comic-Con fans don’t have to wait much longer, though. The Program Schedule will be released Thursday on their website where you can find out how “Thor: The Dark World” will make its’ mark on Comic-Con 2013.

But, the surprises don’t end tomorrow.

Keep your eye out for a big reveal Tuesday morning because what’s left of those generic Gaslamp Quarter banners will be transforming into a special Comic-Con surprise. Again, another clue as to what ticketholders will experience this year at the event.

The San Diego Convention Center opens its doors to Comic-Con fans Thursday, July 18 through Sunday, July 21.
