Additional Code Ninjas Franchises to Open in San Diego by End of 2018

Note: An earlier version of this story referred incorrectly to the number of Code Ninjas franchises in San Diego. The first location on the West Coast was opened here in May.

Additional franchises of Code Ninjas, one of the many coding programs for children to have launched in recent years, are slated to open in the San Diego market by year's end.

The Houston, Texas-based franchise, which teaches children age 7 to age 14 to code by showing them how to build video games, has 25 locations open.

But the company, which bills itself as the largest and fastest-growing franchise offering coding for children in the U.S., says it has already signed 145 franchise agreements this year.

Those include a recent agreement for 33 sites with Jazmin West, a San Diego resident.

West and her husband anticipate opening two to three sites this year in San Diego, Salt Lake City and Atlanta, the company said.

The first Code Ninjas franchise in San Diego was opened earlier this year in Rancho Bernardo. Entrepreneurs Raj Rajendran, Uma Samynathan and Amal Putti debuted the company's first location on the West Coast in May.

Code Ninjas, which was founded in 2016 by programmer and entrepreneur David Graham, says it is also targeting Denver, Cincinnati, Las Vegas, Los Angeles, San Francisco and New York for additional expansion.
