Battle for the Switchfoot Bro-Am

Ever wished your band could open for Switchfoot? Now you have your chance

Calling all San Diego bands: It’s time to bro down. If opening a festival with Switchfoot, Lifehouse, Jamtown, and others in front of a huge crowd of Encinitas beach-lovers sounds like a dream come true, here’s your chance to do just that.

The Switchfoot Bro-Am has been taking over Moonlight Beach in Encinitas for more than 12 years now, and its 13th annual installment is set to take place on Saturday, June 24. Each iteration is basically a massive fundraiser for the band's Bro-Am Foundation -- which gives back to the San Diego community by providing grants to nonprofit organizations that service the homeless, at-risk and disadvantaged youth, and more. It’s become a yearly tradition of giving back that every San Diegan can definitely be proud of.

And now, for the first time ever, Switchfoot and 91x Loudspeaker are hosting a “Battle for the Bro-Am” contest, with a local band snagging their own lineup spot on the festival.

San Diego acts will need to provide some standard info, as well as a link to a YouTube music video, song or performance; pretty standard stuff that most local bands have (and if you don't, you probably should). Go here to enter.

According to the 91x website, Loudspeaker (hosted by our own fabulous SoundDiego contributor Tim Pyles) will “narrow it to five finalists, and the grand prize winner will be selected by Switchfoot to play first at the Bro-Am on June 24.”

Either way, you’ve gotta be in it to win it -- so enter now, bro.
