“Curb Your Enthusiasm” to Air on Basic Cable

TV Guide Network, TV Land acquire rights to irreverent HBO comedy

“Curb” is coming to the cheap seats.

TV Guide Network has won the rights to air the hit HBO comedy “Curb Your Enthusiasm” next February with TV Land then continuing “Curb's” run in 2013, The Associated Press reports.

As the show’s creator and star, Larry David, might say: “Pretty good. Pret-ty, pret-ty, pret-ty good.”

The irreverent quasi-autobiographical comedy by the co-creator of “Seinfeld” is currently in its seventh season on HBO. The series has generated heaps of buzz this season because one plot line has the "Seinfeld" cast – Jerry, Elaine, Kramer and George – reuniting.

Despite the show’s popularity, it has sometimes become a lightening rod for criticism.

Last month, the Catholic League panned an episode that featured David accidentally splashing a portrait of Jesus Christ with pee – saying it was offensive to Catholics.

"Was Larry David always this crude? Would he think it's comedic if someone urinated on a picture of his mother?" Bill Donohue, the League’s president, had asked.

"Larry David makes fun of everyone, most especially himself,” HBO said in a statement.

“The humor is always playful and certainly never malicious."
