Superman Producer Missing in Mexico

Big screen Superman movie producer Ilya Salkind has been reported missing in Mexico.

Friends and family reported Salkind, 63, missing to Mexican authorities Sunday night, telling police he was last seen in Mexico City

Information posted on a website by friends and family noted Salkind went "missing from his family home in Tepozlan Mexico about one hour south of Mexico City in Morales County, and the next largest city is Cuernavaca which is further south from Tepozlan.

Salkind was last heard from on Sunday at about 8:00 p.m after speaking with friends and business partners in Los Angeles, although it is believed that he left his house on Monday to do some errands and for a dental appointment."

He was reported missing after he did not return for a followup appointment.

Friend James Buccelli said that when he last spoke with Salkind on the phone, the call was cut off.

"Never in a million years do you think that's going to happen to someone you know or someone close to you," said Buccelli.

Buccelli said Salkind often returns to the home to write.

According to the website "Ilya is credited with producing and supervising (with his deceased father) the filming on "Superman" and "Superman II," simultaneously, as the father and son team had done with "The Three Musketeers" and "The Four Musketeers." Later, Ilya also acted as Executive Producer on "Superman III" and was involved in the production of numerous other films including most recently "Young Alexander the Great."
