E! is giving you your very own, up-close-and-personal look inside Mariah Carey's life both on and off stage in the upcoming eight-part documentary series "Mariah's World."
"I'm excited to bring my fans into my life for the next journey I'm about to embark on," Carey said in a press release. "I'm already having so much fun with this documentary and I know you will too. There is nothing like capturing these moments."
The series began filming two weeks ago.
Bunim/Murray will produce the show, which will give fans VIP access inside the singer's glamorous lifestyle as she begins her "Sweet Sweet Fantasy" tour in the United States, Europe and Africa.
And when the Grammy-winning legendary singer isn't on stage performing in front of millions of fans around the globe, cameras will be following Carey as she plans her upcoming wedding this spring to Australian business mogul James Packer, juggles her many business ventures and, of course, raises twins Monroe and Moroccan.
Just don't use the R-word when discussing the series with the star of the show.
"I refuse to call it a reality show," Carey told The New York Times. The series, she said, is all about getting to know her better.
"I thought it would be a good opportunity to kind of, like, show my personality and who I am, even though I feel like my real fans have an idea of who I am," she explained. "A lot of people have misperceptions about this and that."
"Mariah is one of the most captivating pop superstars of our time and one of the rare artists whose first name alone is instantly recognized around the globe. We're excited to partner with Bunim/Murray Productions, Mariah and Stella Bulochnikov to offer our viewers exclusive access into her private world," explained Jeff Olde, E!'s executive vice president of Programming & Development.
The series will present a unique, vulnerable and surprisingly humorous side to Mariah that her fans have never before seen while showcasing her unparalleled celebrity lifestyle filled with true glamour, maximum luxury and ultimate stardom."
The hour-long series is expected to debut later this year.
