Hillary Clinton used her appearance on the "Jimmy Kimmel Live!" show to move away from her heir-apparent status as the Democratic establishment’s choice.
"I’m still hoping to get the nomination for the Democratic party,” she said on Thursday night. “I don’t take anything for granted. I’m working really, really hard.”
Clinton, who appeared on the late night chat series just two days after her rival Bernie Sanders visited the same show, also said she worried about the current impasse on nominating a new Supreme Court member to replace Justice Antonin Scalia after he died earlier this year.
“It is really tearing at the guts of the Constitution and our responsibilities for the president to do what he has done and for the Senate to fulfill their role,” she said.
But for all the experience Clinton may have gained over the decades in politics, Kimmel jokingly lectured her for a segment of “mansplaining.”
“So mansplaining is a way that we men can help women be better,” Kimmel said.
He offered up his expertise by suggesting Clinton run through one of her typical stump speeches so that he could critique her presentation and performance.

“I’ll mansplain to you whatever problems I might see,” he said.
Crystallizing the concept of “mansplaining,” Kimmel commented on her clothing and suggested rethinking her choices.
“Something a little more fun next time, but not too fun,” he said. “Serious but not too serious. You want to be stylish but not looking like you’re trying to be stylish. And also presidential.”
Finally, Clinton jokingly became frustrated with Kimmel’s contradictory advice – like telling her she’s too shrill and then telling her she’s quiet like a mouse – and said “it’s like nothing I ever do is right.”
“Exactly. You’re not doing it right, “he said. “I can’t quite put my finger on it. But something is, you’re not umm --”
“A man?” Clinton asked.
