Instead of rehab, Amy Winehouse is headed for court.
Sherene Flash told the Westminster Magistrates' Court that she had asked Winehouse for a picture after a performance, and Winehouse got violent after a drunk friend of Flash's tried to get in the picture.
"Miss Winehouse may have felt she had generously agreed to be photographed on her own and not with a drunken stranger," said Flash's lawyer Lyall Thompson. "[Still,] this was a deliberate assault by Miss Winehouse."
Flash, who said she was shocked and started to cry after being punched in the eye, said Winehouse, who has had well-chronicled problems with drugs and alcohol, appeared out of it. "She looked like maybe she was on drugs or something," she said.
Winehouse's lawyer painted a different picture, saying the songstress pushed the stargazer away after she tried to put her arm around her.
"You wanted to be in a photo with Miss Winehouse," said Patrick Gibbs. " When she said 'I am coming back in two minutes' time, you weren't prepared to wait. You put your arm around her and she pushed you away, and she must have caught you on the side of your eye," said Gibbs.
The assault charge has already taken its toll on Winehouse. Last March, Winehouse was denied a work visa because of the charge and couldn't perform at the Cochella festival in California.
