Sarah Palin & Tina Fey Meet On ‘SNL'

After weeks of rumors, Republican vice-presidential candidate Sarah Palin arrived on NBC’s “Saturday Night Live” to meet her TV twin, Tina Fey.

Palin appeared with ‘SNL’ head honcho Lorne Michaels in the opening sketch as the pair watched Tina Fey, in character as Palin, give a mock press conference.

“Now I’d like to entertain everybody with some fancy pageant walkin’,” Fey said after taking questions, while Palin looked on.

“Well, Lorne, you know, I just didn’t think it was a realistic depiction of how one of my press conferences woulda gone,” she said. ““Why couldn’t we do the ‘30 Rock’ sketch I wrote?”

“Honestly, not enough people know that show,” Lorne said.

But then Fey’s fellow ’30 Rock’ star Alec Baldwin made an appearance, mistaking Palin for his co-star until Lorne introduced her.

“Forgive me, but I feel I must say this — you are way hotter in person,” Alec said.

“Thank you, and I must say that your brother Stephen is my favorite Baldwin brother,” Sarah said.

Stephen, the youngest of the four Baldwins, is an ardent McCain-Palin supporter who told Fox News over the summer that he would leave the country if rival Barack Obama won the presidency.

Next, Sarah entered the press conference scene as Tina realized she was there and made a quick exit – and Sarah announced, “Live from New York, it’s Saturday night!”

The VP nominee made a second appearance on the show, sitting in on Weekend Update and refusing to do a skit they’d planned – which Amy Poehler did instead.

Backed by a hip-hop beat, Amy rapped about Eskimos, moose, and McCain, shouting, “All the mavericks in the house put your hands up!”

“I think you made the right decision not to do that,” Seth Meyers told Sarah after, to which she said, “You betcha.”

Mark Wahlberg also made an appearance on the show after making numerous comments in the press on Andy Samberg’s recent impression on him in the skit, “Mark Wahlberg Talks To Animals.” Walking into the opening skit, he asked Lorne Michaels where Andy was – and he wasn’t taking no for an answer.

“Are you gonna make me bust your head open too? Because I will,” he said.

Earlier in the week, Mark told Access Hollywood that he hadn’t been impressed by Samberg’s sketch.
