Robin To The CW? ‘Smallville' Team Hopes So!

Batman’s Boy Wonder, Robin, is set to get his own one-hour series on The CW.

The producers of CW’s “Smallville,” along with “Supernatural” exec producer McG, have a pilot in the works based on the Batman’s sidekick Robin, called “The Graysons,” Variety reports.

Similar to “Smallville’s” take on the early years of Superman, “The Graysons” will reportedly chronicle the life of a young Dick “DJ” Grayson before he suited up to fight crime with the Dark Knight as Robin.

The series will reportedly be set in modern times and revolve around DJ navigating through young love, rivals and family dynamics.

Dick Grayson was originally introduced into the Batman world as an orphaned teenager who meets Bruce Wayne after his acrobat family, “The Flying Graysons,” is killed by a gangster. Wayne takes in Grayson, who eventually becomes his sidekick, Robin.

In DC Comics Batman lore, Grayson eventually goes on to become the character of Nightwing in “The New Teen Titans.”

Burt Ward first played Robin/Dick Grayson in TV series “Batman,” in 1965.

Chris O’ Donnell took over the role on the big screen in 1995’s “Batman Forever” and 1997’s “Batman & Robin.”
