Lohan Dad: I Will Always Love Lindsay's Mom

"I respect her and will always love her as the mother of my children," Michael said

Lindsay Lohan's dad said he will always have love for his ex-wife.

Michael Lohan, often pegged as a deadbeat dad, said he wants to make amends with his ex Dina despite the pair's very-public spats over their famous daughter's well-being, according to the New York Post

"Regardless of what Dina says or what happened, I respect her and will always love her as the mother of my children and a special person," he told the Post.

"She is a breath of fresh air after what I have gone through over the past two years."

The self-promoting Pops most recently railed against Lindsay for her alleged pill-popping behavior in the wake of her 2007 DUI arrest and claimed she could be dead within "a year, a month, a week" during an interview in October.

The father of four -- Lindsay, Ali, Michael and Cody -- appeared in court last week over late child support payments but claimed he owed less than believed.

"Court papers indicate [that] Dina claims it is $15,000 not $40,000," he told the Post. "Dina received a lot of cash from me as well as commissions on business deals I executed, which she fails to mention.

"We will straighten this out in the next few weeks and start the new year on a positive note."

Lindsay has lashed out at her father in the past, accusing him of being a media hound who is more interested in the limelight than his children.

"I'm so hurt that someone who calls himself my father needs to use the press to communicate with me," she told Usmagazine.com in October. "It's so sad that he needs to stay in the media spotlight by using my name and making up excessive lies. He should instead try to be a real father."
