Katy Perry's Boyfriend Blessed by Parents

Pastor parents say Russell Brand just needs to steer clear of "the darkness"

Katy Perry has won her parents’ blessing for her new boyfriend – even if he turned out to be the worst person in the world.

The superstar “I Kissed a Girl” singer recently took her boyfriend of two months, English comedian Russell Brand, to meet her devoutly Christian ‘rents in Austria, the U.K. Sun reports.

Pastor Mary Hudson tells the paper that she believes God “can take the very worst person and turn them around for good."

All Brand has to do is “go towards the light and not towards the darkness,” Perry's mom said.

Perry’s father Keith, also an evangelical touring pastor, said he gave Brand a copy of his book “The Cry,” during their meeting. The tome was written to help “release the desperate longing for God's intervention in your life," he told the Sun.

In return, Brand gave Perry’s parents a copy of his autobiography “My Booky Wook,” which reveals his history of drug abuse and sex addiction.

“We all have a past,” Keith Hudson said. “I was in the Jimi Hendrix and Janis Joplin era, and I used to take LSD. Russell's really got a hunger for the supernatural.”

Perry’s parents said they could see the happy couple getting hitched.

"I think that Katy would probably use another one of our pastor friends, because her dad gets really emotional and would want to take her down the aisle," Mary Hudson told the paper.
