Lindsay Lohan -- serving a 90-day jail sentence for violating her probation in a pair of DUI cases -- could get her get-out-of-jail card this weekend, according to at least two online entertainment websites, but the sheriff's department did not confirm those reports.
Lohan, who's in the Century Regional Detention Facility in Lynwood, began serving her sentence July 20. Because of jail overcrowding, according to the celebrity gossip websites Radar Online and TMZ, the 23-year-old actress could be released as soon as this weekend.
Earlier, the Los Angeles Times cited jail officials who said Lohan would be released after serving 13 days, which would be sometime Monday.
A sheriff's spokesman was not immediately available to comment today.
TMZ and Radar Online also have reported that when Lohan is released, she will have one day to visit with her family and friends before entering a court-mandated alcohol rehabilitation program for 90 days -- with no early release.
The websites have reported that Lohan will do her rehab at Morningside Recovery, which is based in Newport Beach, but that she could end up at its Costa Mesa branch.
When Beverly Hills Superior Court Judge Marsha Revel ordered Lohan to serve jail time, it set off a media frenzy.
Her journey from home to the courthouse was chronicled by media helicopters, with photographers camped out by her driveway. After the court hearing, Lohan was loaded into a Sheriff's Department vehicle and driven to the Lynwood jail, followed by paparazzi in vehicles and on motorcycles -- some of them running on foot to the sheriff's car when it was stopped at intersections in hopes of snapping photos of Lohan.
Media helicopters also followed her journey to the jail.
On May 26, 2007, Lohan was in a Mercedes-Benz that crashed into a hedge along Sunset Boulevard near the Beverly Hills Hotel, and two months later she was arrested in Santa Monica on suspicion of driving under the influence.
That August, Lohan pleaded no contest to two counts each of drunken driving and being under the influence of cocaine, and one count of reckless driving. She was sentenced to one day in jail -- but spent a total of 84 minutes at the Century Regional Detention Facility -- and was placed on three years probation.
Lohan's probation was later extended for a year after she missed some alcohol-education classes while making a movie in Texas.
Lohan ran afoul of the judge again when she missed a scheduled court hearing in May because she was at the Cannes Film Festival in France. She said her passport had been stolen.
Late Friday afternoon RadarOnline.com reported "Upon her release from jail, Lindsay Lohan will check into the Morningside Recovery in Newport Beach, Calif., RadarOnline.com has confirmed exclusively.
" A source inside Lindsay’s camp told RadarOnline.com that Lindsay will have 24 hours to spend with her family before then heading straight to the facility.
"According its website, Morningside is an exclusive addiction and duel diagnosis facility, providing drug and alcohol rehab and mental health and dual diagnosis services. They specialize in alcohol and drug addiction problems coupled with mental illness such as depression and other co-occurring disorders," RadarOnline.com reported.
