Jillian Michaels Becomes a Mom of Two

"The Biggest Loser" trainer swaps gym for Gymboree following the arrival of new son and daughter.

Trainer Jillian Michaels hasn’t been to the gym in two weeks. And those who know of the fitness guru and motivator from NBC’s “The Biggest Loser” are no doubt suitably shocked.

The fitness fanatic, who left the show last year, gets a pass for being tardy when it comes to gym time these days: she’s now pulling double duty as a new mom.

“We’re swimming in babies over here,” Michaels, 38, reveals to People of her home life with partner Heidi Rhoades that now counts not one, but two little household additions.

On May 12 Michaels was finally able to bring home her 2-year-old daughter Lukensia from Haiti, following a lengthy, two-year adoption process. Just two weeks prior, her life partner Heidi Rhoades gave birth to a son Phoenix on May 3 in Los Angeles. Suddenly it’s instant family at chez Michaels.

Jillian revealed her bisexuality in 2010 and has been dating Rhoades, 31, for the past three years. Michaels only announced her plans to adopt last year, and had kept Rhoades’ pregnancy quiet in the press.

Of her current day-to-day life, Michaels has swapped treadmills and free-weights for baby strollers and diaper bags.

"I don't even answer email. I don't have time to care about anything else," the personal trainer said. "I want to be really present and enjoy all the nuances of their growth and development. I don't want to rush any of it."

Of the sudden expansion, Rhoades tells People that, “It’s not the way we had planned it! But that’s how our life works. It’s always big. It could never be one child at a time.” The couple has not revealed their son’s biological father to date.

Michaels admits that she has taken a backseat to her kids well-being and happiness. “Telling moms ‘You need to put yourself first’?” she says with disbelief. “It’s impossible to put yourself first when you are a mom.”
