Carrie Underwood: Not Calling Tony Romo, Not Dating Michael Phelps

Carrie Underwood has set the record straight about rumors she still calls her ex-boyfriend, Cowboysquarterback Tony Romo.

In the new issue of Elle magazine, Carrie said that comments she made in Allure’s September issue about still calling her ex, who is the current flame of Jessica Simpson, were taken out of context.

“See, this is always a tricky thing,” Carrie told Elle. “I don’t think people realize that when you do an interview, the magazine comes out six months later. It was just something that was said in passing, and I would never mean to say anything to hurt anybody or to stir up anything, because I’m just not about drama. At all.”

When Carrie’s comments hit the press in August, Jessica Simpson quickly responded telling Nashville radio station, 107.5 The River, “We got a chuckle out of it.” And that Carrie “definitely” wasn’t still calling Tony.

Carrie said she has no beef with Jessica in her new interview with Elle and added she would have been angered at the thought that her beau’s ex was still ringing his former flame too.

“I might be mad too if somebody said my boyfriend was calling some other girl,” Carrie added. “So I can definitely see where she would be coming from. But I haven’t talked to him since, like, May.”

And while she refused to comment on whether she has a new boyfriend, Carrie categorically denied a fling with Olympian Michael Phelps.

“I never met the guy!” Carrie said of rumors that surfaced following the summer games in China. “I’m sure he’s lovely. I’m sure he’s a great guy. He made America proud… But I never met him, I never mentioned him in an interview, I never mentioned him in that way to anybody that I know. The only conversation that ever came up was when we were watching the Olympics and somebody would be, like, ‘How about that Michael Phelps?’ And it’s, like, ‘Yeah, he’s doing great!’”
