NBC SD teams up with Local Company, LG Mobile Phones & Surfrider Foundation San Diego to Go Green!

San Diego, Ca- In celebration of NBC Universal’s 7th annual Green is Universal week, volunteers from NBC San Diego, LG Mobile Phones, and Surfrider Foundation San Diego Chapter teamed up to clean up a local’s favorite surf spot. Approximately 35 volunteers gathered Wednesday morning, November 17th, armed with garbage bags and gloves, ready to pickup any ‘inorganic’ matter on the sand. Starting at Tourmaline Beach and working south, the volunteers were able to collect 261 pounds of garbage in just 2 hours.

LG Mobile Phones is an official sponsor of NBC San Diego’s Green is Universal Week. As part of their campaign to promote a clean environment, LG Mobile Phones is encouraging San Diegans donate their old cell phones by simply texting NBCSD to 95173. For every phone that is mailed in to be recycled, LG Mobile Phones will donate two dollars to Surfrider Foundation San Diego. By doing this, LG is helping to prevent the possibility of electronics ending up in our local landfills.
