Thousands of dogs, cats, bunnies and even the occasional pig are sitting in San Diego County animal shelters just waiting for someone to give them the love they deserve.
NBC 7 and Telemundo 20 want to help those loveable creatures find their forever homes -- and you can help. Through the month of August, our stations will be featuring adoptable pets from 11 San Diego County shelters to help "Clear the Shelters."

Here are today's featured pets, which are just a few of the thousands of local animals who need loving homes:
This distinguished gentleman is named Sir and he’s yearning for a place to call his own. He’s a 1-year-old boxer mix who was admitted to the shelter as a stray, along with his sister. However, he is all alone now since his sibling was adopted right away. Sir is seeking a family that will pour much love, belly rubs and snacks his way in exchange for loyalty and friendship. If this sounds like the beginning of a beautiful friendship, find him at the Rancho Coastal Humane Society.
Put your paws together for the lovely Nina! This gal is still a puppy and is a 9-month-old shepherd mix. She had a rough start to her life and was found injured as a stray in Northern California. Right now, she’s recovering from hip surgery but is ready to give all her love to her forever family. Could that be with you? If you think so, Nina is waiting for you at the Rancho Coastal Humane Society.
Everyone, we’d like to introduce you to sweet Flopsie Joy. This 3-year-old shepherd mix is a true delight and absolutely loves to play. She expresses her excitement by jumping but don’t worry, she’s a polite gal and knows “four-on-the-floor” – a command to have her settle down. Does Flopsie Joy sound like a good match for you? If so, contact the Rancho Coastal Humane Society.
Allow us the pleasure of introducing you to Moose! This absolute charmer is a 3-year-old Labrador mix. He’s got a great personality and is described by shelter staff as a happy-go-lucky type. Moose has bundles of energy and would love to join a household that could play with him and be sure to take him on walks. If you think he could be your next adventure buddy, visit the Rancho Coastal Humane Society.
