Everyone put their paws together for a tail-wagging good time this weekend as Clear the Shelters’ main adoption event returned to San Diego County Saturday.
Pet adoption fees were waived at participating shelters Saturday as part of NBCUniversal's annual nationwide pet adoption and donation campaign all August long. Several animal shelters in San Diego County helped adopt out 212 animals just on Saturday during the main event, and 1,725 pets for the entire month of CTS thus far.

CTS continues until the end of the month, so starting Sunday, adoption fees will be $20 for dogs, cats, kittens, and $5 for small pets. To see which pets are available, click here.

“Pets belong in homes where they can give and receive unconditional love,” Dr. Gary Weitzman, president and CEO of San Diego Humane Society, said in a statement. “It tugs at our heartstrings every time we see an animal go home with a new family. It’s the best feeling.”
