Solvang Julefest: Skål Stroll

Fifteen area wineries and breweries will participate in the annual Wine & Beer Walk on Saturday, Dec. 9 and Sunday, Dec. 10. Solvang

WALK, TALK, SIP, NOSH: Solvang is quite the strollable town, which makes sauntering from wine tasting room to wine tasting room quite the easy errand (and then, of course, sauntering to your hotel room at the end of your excursion). It's a pleasurable outing many over-21ers take part in while visiting the Danish capital of America, regardless of the season. But a special weekend shimmers in December, like so many bubbles in a flute of sparkling wine, and it is related to the larger party afoot around town. That's Julefest, Solvang's multi-week whimsy that involves a tree lighting, shopping events, a parade, a pageant, pastries, and the famous Solvang Christmas Tree Burn in early January. If you're hoping for a day, though, that's about trying the pinot noirs of the Santa Ynez Valley, and the ales and stouts, too, gaze now, into the future, through the fir boughs and glittering bulbs to the...

SECOND WEEKEND IN DECEMBER: That's when the Skål Stroll will take place, and fifteen wineries and breweries are on board, including Dascomb Cellars and Royal Oaks. Keep your eyes peeled for the authentic gløgg, too, at some of the wineries, if your tastes run to libations with a spicier, warm-the-cockles spirit. The 2017 dates are Saturday, Dec. 9 and Sunday, Dec. 10, and count on the village to be in the full festive swing by then. More Julefestian cheer? Here.
