Poway Rodeo 2010

BRONCOS & BULLS: Get away for a good ole country rodeo complete with bull riding, barrel racing and mutton bustin’ as Poway puts on its annual rodeo Sept. 24-25. The event is a natural fit with Poway, whose “city in the country” motto plays up a rural and horse-friendly atmosphere despite the city’s proximity to San Diego.

SILVER BUCKLE: If you’re looking for a view that’s better than the grandstands, opt for this special section near the bucking chutes. Tables for six will be set up near the food, restroom and most important – the bar.

TRAIL RIDE: The weekend before, sign up for a trail ride and shoot for the best hand. Riders will be given playing cards along the trail. Best poker hand wins a prize. The $20 cost includes a catered BBQ lunch.

DUTCH BABY: While you're there, swing by the Original Pancake House for a ginormous helping of breakfast goodness. Don't leave without ordering the Eggs Benedict or German Pancakes and warm syrup.
